2009 IL Tech Legislative Update #1

The 96th Assembly of the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives is off and running in Springfield. Needless to say, this is a volatile year. We have a new Governor, a new Senate President, a new Senate Minority Leader and an estimated $9 billion budget deficit to deal with.

In general, session highlights should include real consideration of individual, corporate and gasoline tax increases and how to maximize Illinois’ allocation of federal stimulus funds. But, from an industry-specific perspective, there are only two bills that currently, directly, impact the Chicago Tech Community. But, that is also subject to change before the General Assembly adjourns, slated for May 31st.
